toni okamoto plant based on a budgetToni Okamoto stopped by the VeganTourGuide Podcast and spoke about her journey and provided the reasons why she created her website that destroys one of the oldest myths about people going to a Plantbased – Vegan diet: it’s very expensive.  Toni discusses that this is simply untrue and the she backs it up in our interview with her information and then you can find further proof on her website.  Toni’s website is awesome, she breaks down into meal plans WITH Grocery Lists as to how you can eat nutritional, great tasting and SIMPLE meals for just $25.00 per week!  Yes, $25.00 per week!  She even expands her information for people feeding a family of four (4) per week.  Oh, I will give you a warning: When you go to her site, be prepared to suddenly be VERY HUNGRY!  She has incredible photos showing off incredible food and you will get hungry in a hurry.  I loved talking with Toni, I mean she was SO COOL, she talked to me on her birthday for this podcast! There are a lot of reasons to eat more plants, and a lot of misconceptions about what that means. What we’re trying to do at Plant Based on a Budget is to show how affordable, easy, and delicious eating a plant based diet can be, how you don’t have to shop at specialty grocery stores or restock your pantry with all kinds of unfamiliar products and substitutes, and, most of all, how you don’t have to sacrifice time, taste, or money in the pursuit of healthier, tastier eating.

Though all of our recipes are plant based, we’re not advocating a political agenda, and we’re not making a list of Things You Shouldn’t Eat. We’re just a bunch of people who love food and cooking, and want to share some of the recipes and tips we’ve learned along the way.

More than anything, we think that everyone should be able to cook delicious, healthy food without spending a fortune. That’s the goal of this site: plant based, on a budget.
